Impressions...

Impressions never really goes away, so it's true what they say about first impressions lasting forever. If so, I admonish we begin to create positive impressions of ourselves on a daily because we may never know what memories we are giving a mouth to mouth to and when we may need them to speak for us. Life is in circles and it's funny how things of the past evolves right through the present and making major headlines in a future yet to come. And the earlier we understand that our lives are judged by the beauty of the face we give to them, the sooner we begin to paint a perfect picture of ourselves and still maintaining that golden smile each time there's a glance through life's portrait.

Unfortunately, we often complain about how we are been treated wrongly by our friends, colleagues and families when we are the ones on actual fact imposing a permanent dent on our personality by the negative impressions we give of ourselves. And the truth is, no one else is to be blamed but us. Apparently, the kind of energy emanated will determine the level of hospitality arrayed to us. Many have missed out on life great opportunities due to the fact that they couldn't give a good account of themselves when it mattered most. And the worst thing about it all is that our attentions are not mostly called upon when these observations take place, so we just have to learn to be in our best behavior at all times because we may never know when and who's watching. And with that said, permit me to quickly share with you a story that just came to mind and hope we are able to relate it with our lives and learn a thing or two as there must be a reason it was orchestrated in my thoughts.

And the story goes thus.... There was this young lad who was just recently recruited as an outdoor marketer with an holiday company by the name Hemingway Safaris Africa and he was so conscious of his looks and that didn't just attract the attention and interest of his female co-workers but also earned the respect of his supervisors and senior colleagues at work. He dressed irresistibly well, neat and matured and never forgot to keep that smile radiated on his face. I mean, he was just a pleasant sight to behold and little did he know that was just about to hand him the keys to open doors.

It all happened on this amazing day while on duty at the International Airport and as usual he was dressed pretty sharp and neat and I watched him walk towards this pretty looking lady who just got back into the country, I mean, you could tell from the looks of her skin and the ascent that springs out her words. He greeted her warm and nicely, requesting her permission to have a quick word with her and she smiled back, giving her consent. They had a swift conversation and when he was done getting her to fill the form requested of her by the company, he thanked her for the time spent and walked away quietly, leaving her with an impression that started a fire in her and achieving the aim encompassed by her burning desire was the pump that fueled her curiosity.

She walked to me having noticed I was dressed in the company t-shirt just sited by the stand and not walking around talking to clients like others, so I guess she must have deduced I was the supervisor and she wanted a moment with me. Immediately we got talking, she pointed towards the direction of the young lad where he was talking to other clients and without a single delay, she went straight to making her intentions known and which was to make him the manager of a company she had traveled back home to set up. Now imagine how differently the story would have ended if he gave a bad account of himself at the only opportunity he might have ever had crossing her path in life, walking to her looking so dirty, rude and unprofessional, would I be gracing my pages right now with his tales?

Life is full of opportunities but we have a major role to play in securing and customizing them in our name. The first impression we give of ourselves goes a long way in life so I advice we avoid been given a bad name because even if we desist from our old terrible ways and find God eventually, a pool of doubt is somewhere already swimming the oceans and waters the shore at any opportunity given. Trust me, they never really go away, so it's better we give a good impression of ourselves from the onset because that opens more door than a master key. Well, I hope we've been able to learn something from this life humbling scenario inspiration brought our way this awesome day the Lord has made and my heart desiring prayer is that we all shall rejoice and be glad in it.
